Iranian Nuke Scientist: Weekend Quake was a Nuclear Test

A weekend 5.0 Richter earthquake in Iran was actually a nuclear bomb test, says an Iranian nuclear scientist claiming to be working on the project.

This past Saturday night, southern Iran experienced what was reported as a significant earthquake – a seismic event measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale. Its epicenter was just north of the strategic Straits of Hormuz, which separates Iran from Abu Dhabi and Oman and which is the gateway to the Persian Gulf.

The report quotes an Iranian nuclear scientist who claims to be working in uranium enrichment for the project, and who said that the “quake” was acutally an undergound nuclear bomb test.

Israel Insider adds that the test/quake was actually the second in a series. Nine days ago, a 4.8 Richter scale event occurred, with its epicenter only five kilometers away from the weekend tremor.

The Israel Insider source reports that two nuclear rockets are currently ready – and are intended for use against Israel in the coming months.

If the report is correct, it would belie previous speculation that Iran would not begin nuclear testing until it had more nuclear-bomb production capability.

The geographical location of the test has several advantages. It is exposed to significant seismic activity, which could serve to mask nuclear tests; it is believed to be close to Iran’s nuclear development facility; delivery and transport of material and personnel can be effected easily through the Hormuz Strait; and Iranian enemies would hesitate to bomb the area because that would threaten the flow of a substantial percentage of the world’s oil.

Reuters reports Thursday morning that Iran has begun building a line of naval bases along its southern coast and up to the Straits of Hormuz.

This story has been out there for several days, first reported by israelinsider. If it were true, wouldn’t it be in the headlines? It sure was headline news when North Korea and Pakistan did their testing. Is israelinsider a credible source? I don’t know anything about them.

  2. Daniel Avrin says:

Where are the comments from the American nuclear and intelligence agencies? It should be relatively simple to determine whether these were earthquakes or nuclear tests. Were they on a fault line? Was there any release of radiation? Would the Iranians risk a nuclear test so close to the vital Straits of Hormuz? We should demand facts and science to determine the validity of possible propaganda statements by Iranian officials.

  3. One should ask themselves: If someone has a gun to your head, and states they are going to kill you, do you attempt to save yourself?

If these tests are confirmed, and knowing that Iran has publicly stated that it would attack Israel, what is Israel to do?

War is an ugly beast, hate is uglier.

The reasons this has not [yet] been a bigger story:

    1. The Iranians won’t say anything because if they did, Israel would attack. Iran wants to conduct a first-strike against Israel. This is why they have 2 nuclear-tipped missiles ready (thanks to Russian for the missile modifications and nuclear detinators).

    2. The US government won’t say anything because it will require a response against Iran and also against China for their part in aiding Iran’s nuclear program. China holds massive amounts of US debt. Given the current global economic crisis, the US can hardly afford to anger it’s Chinese banker. Who would buy America’s debt? China would not buy any part of the estimated 1 trillion dollar US budget deficite projected for 2009.

    3. The US media won’t say anything because they don’t want to give the Bush administration an excuse for launching an attack against Iran or permitting Israel to launch an attack. Peace at any price.

The Reason nothing has been said is probably because Israel and the U.S. are planning to Bomb Iran.
