Department of Homeland Security advises Congress on dealing with `active shooter’

The Department of Homeland Security is distributing a guidance primer to members of Congress on how to respond to an active shooter.

The 13-page primer urges lawmakers and congressional staffers to be alert to surroundings, aware of the two nearest exits and prepared to get into an office and blockade the door with heavy furniture.
