Google Announces it Will Warn Gmail Users of Possible State Sponsored Spying
Google has announced via its Online Security Blog that it will begin alerting users of Gmail when detecting credible evidence that message are being sent to them by state sponsored entities for spying purposes. Wired says Google has taken this action because it believes some Gmail users have received such messages and wishes to prevent it from happening the future. ABC News, also reporting on the story says that Gmail users will receive a pop-up warning if officials at Google believe they are the target of messages sent by people in other countries who are trying to spy on Americans.
