U.S. government officials say computer hackers are targeting power plants and other critical infrastructure around the world, apparently in hopes of being able to at some point seize control of operations in a targeted attack on the infrastructure.
Last month, experts for the first time apparently discovered a malicious computer code that was specifically engineered to take comand over systems that control the inner system workings of industrial plants.
The Department of Homeland Security has begun building specialized teams that can respond quickly to cyber emergencies at industrial facilities across the country in direct response to the threat.
