Reports That Led to Terror Alert Were Years Old, Officials Say

Much of the information that led the authorities to raise the terror alert at several large financial institutions in the New York City and Washington areas was three or four years old, intelligence and law enforcement officials said on Monday. They reported that they had not yet found concrete evidence that a terror plot or preparatory surveillance operations were still under way.
This story is already featured on the Drudge Report and will appear tomorrow in the N.Y. Times and several other papers. Because of the political climate of the day, some will no doubt use this story to further their own personal beliefs and agendas. Before doing so, please consider the fact that the plans for 9/11 began taking shape, some 8 years prior to being acted upon.
