Meanwhile, the Captain radioed in to Heathrow airport, asking that the men’s names be re-checked against the terrorist “no-fly” list. Word came back from the Captain to the crew that two of the nine men were on the “no-fly” list.
“We were horrified,” one flight attendant told me. “I heard the Captain wanted to divert — I don’t know why we didn’t. We made sure the passengers didn’t notice but we were all horrified.”

The president of the Canadian Islamic Congress is under fire for saying all Israelis above the age of 18 are legitimate targets of attack.
Mohamed Elmasry made the comments Tuesday on the Michael Coren Live TV show and was criticized yesterday by the Canadian Jewish Congress.
When asked whether “anyone over the age of 18 in Israel is a valid target,” Elmasry replied: “Anybody above 18 is part of the (Israeli) army.”
The show’s moderator followed with another question: “Anyone in Israel, irrespective of gender, over the age of 18 is a valid target?”
“Yes, I would say,” Elmasry responded.

FBI investigators have made new arrests and developed leads that reinforce concerns that terrorists plan to strike around the presidential election, officials said Saturday, even though the CIA has discredited a person who told its agents of such a plot involving Al Qaeda (search).

The Pentagon knows exactly where Osama bin Laden is hiding in Pakistan, it just can’t get to him, John Lehman, a member of the 9/11 Commission, said Thursday.
Lehman’s remarks echoed those made Tuesday by Secretary of State Colin Powell, who said the al-Qaida leader was alive and operating in the western part of Pakistan.
Bin Laden is living in South Waziristan in the Baluchistan Mountains of the Baluchistan region, Lehman told the San Bernardino Sun after delivering a keynote speech on terrorism at Pitzer College in Claremont.

FBI Probing Punctures in US Airway Jets

Puncture holes were found in the bellies of two US Airways jets at Charlotte/Douglas International Airport, which the FBI said was not likely caused by normal wear and tear.
Officials said the punctures discovered Monday morning during routine visual inspections are similar to damage recently found on another US Airways jet in Florida.

Tawhid and Jihad, the Iraqi militant group of terror mastermind Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, apparently has changed its name two days after announcing its merger with Osama bin Laden’s al-Qaida organization.
An Internet statement released Tuesday under the purported new name, al-Qaida of Jihad in the Land of Two Rivers, claimed responsibility for an attack on a U.S. military convoy west of the Iraqi city of Fallujah the same day. The two rivers in the new name refers to the Euphrates and Tigris rivers in Iraq.
