U.K. Paper Says Has Unseen 9/11 Video

A previously unseen video made by Mohammed Atta, ringleader of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks on the United States, has been obtained by Britain’s The Sunday Times, the newspaper reported Saturday.
In editions available late Saturday, the paper said it had been handed the so-called martyrdom video, but did not reveal the source of the tape.

It reported that Atta was filmed reading a document marked in Arabic as a will as he sat beside fellow hijacker Zaid Jarrah — who seized control of United Airlines flight 93, which crashed into a field in Shanksville, Pa.

As-Sahab Releases al-Zawahiri Video Message

As-Sahab, al-Qaeda’s multimedia production arm, issued today, Friday, September 29, 2006, a 17:51 minute video speech featuring Dr. Ayman al-Zawahiri and titled: “Bush, the Pope of the Vatican, Darfur, and the Crusader Wars”. He appears in two scenes: one, subtitled in English, with an office-setup background with a lamp, flag bearing “No God, but Allah”, and a cannon; the other is without a background, and depicts Zawahiri dressed entirely in white, without subtitles.

To U.S. President George W. Bush, Zawahiri brands him a “deceitful charlation” and liar, and questions: “why don’t you tell them how many million citizens of America and it’s allies you intend to kill in search of the imaginary victory and in breathless pursuit of the mirage towards which you are driving your people’s sons in order to increase your profits?” He questions his motives for initating the War in Iraq, ridiculing the false prexets under which it was conducted. To this end he cites the purported links of Saddam Hussein to al-Qaeda, and the presence of weapons of mass destruction. He also addresses the capture of Khalid Shaikh Muhammad and questions that if it helped in the “war on terror” then “why are your troops retreating in secrete from the south and east of Afghanistan?… Bush…be aware that the liberation of our captives is a debt on our shoulders which we must fulfill”. Other individuals who have been captured, such as Ramzi Yusef, Omar Abdul Rahman (the “Blind Sheikh”) and Abu al-Faraj al-Libi are also cited.

Bin Laden Alive And In Afghanistan

Pakistan has intelligence suggesting Osama bin Laden is hiding in the eastern Afghanistan province of Kunar, possibly with the help of an Afghan warlord, President Pervez Musharraf said, dismissing a French intelligence report that the al-Qa’ida leader had died of typhoid.

“It’s not a hunch,” General Musharraf said. “Kunar province borders on Bajaur Agency. We know there are some pockets of al-Qa’ida in Bajaur Agency. We have set a good intelligence organisation. We have moved some army elements. We did strike them twice there. We located and killed a number ofthem.”

Interviewed at his hotel in New York, General Musharraf said he believed that bin Laden was in Afghanistan, and suggested a possible link with Afghan warlord Gulbuddin Hekmatyar.

“The official said bin Laden was alive and that reports that he is ill are not true,” said Bakr Atyani, Al Arabiya’s Islamabad correspondent. “The Taliban checked with members who are close to al Qaeda that these reports are baseless.”

Is Bin Laden Dead?

Fugitive Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, believed to be on the run in rugged terrain in the Afghan-Pakistani border region since the September 11 attacks five years ago, has become seriously ill and may have already died, a Saudi source tells TIME, echoing earlier reports in the French media.

The source, speaking on condition of anonymity, says that Saudi officials have received multiple credible reports over the last several weeks that Bin Laden has been suffering from a water-borne illness. The source believes that there is a “high probability” that Bin Laden has already died from the disease, but stressed that Saudi officials have thus far received no concrete evidence of Bin Laden’s death.

“This is not a rumor,” says the source. “He is very ill. He got a water-related sickness and it could be terminal.

Local Governments Prepare For Nuke Terror

Fearing terrorist attacks on nuclear power plants, states and cities around the country are actively distributing free doses of potassium iodide, known for its ability to fend off radiation poisoning, to nearby residents.

Some officials are claiming federal ineptitude is leaving citizens without the tablets promised in 2002 when Congress passed the Bioterrorism Preparedness Response Act, which set out to provide KI pills to those living within 20 miles of a nuclear reactor to fight off the effects of radioactivity in the event of an accident or attack.
