Man Ignites Fire In Crowded Church

The suspect in Wednesday’s church attack at Peoples Church went to the church “with the intent of killing all the people in the church,” a court document stated today.
Kam Shing Chan, 53, also known as Daniel Chan, made his first appearance in Marion County court Friday, wearing a green “suicide suit,” to prevent him from harming himself.
Chan was charged with attempted aggravated murder, attempted assault, arson and reckless burning. He conferred briefly with his court appointed attorney Catherine Dixon of Salem during the short appearance in front of Marion Circuit Judge Tracy Prall.
