Americans in Algeria are being warned that extremists may be planning to conduct a terrorist attack against a commercial aircraft there.
The U.S. Embassy in Algeria put out a warning to American citizens there yesterday.
Today, U.S. State Department deputy spokesman Tom Casey said the threat was exclusively against airline carriers in Algeria and there was no indication of any other targets.
Casey said the U.S. is obliged to disseminate any information it has regarding threats to ensure the safety and awareness of Americans abroad.
Casey added there was no information which group might be behind a potential attack.
