We also need to remember that about 2 years ago, someone stole a cache of equipment (i.e. radios, uniforms, etc) from a FDNY anti-terrorism unit truck and when the truck was later found, items were missing. I have not seen any reports post incident claiming this stuff was found. So yes, keep vigilant.

When you see someone taking pictures, you should get your cell phone or digital camera and take a picture of them taking pictures. (preferabliy when you can get a face shot of them) then turn it over to law enforcement. These folks are trying to be covert, if you photograph them it blows their cover and they need to recruit someone else to do the job. Start taking pictures folks!

Actually there are a couple of issues here.
          1. hospitals, schools and to some extent fire houses are "soft targets " Easy to attack, important to the community and are not routinely easily defended.
          2. Why is so very little of this brought to the public's attention ?
          3. Are we not as secure in America as we would like to believe ?

I mentioned the Fire Station situation to a neighbor who attends City Hall meetings and was told that our city (Pflugerville, Texas) is aware and it seems that these individuals performing the suspicious activity are watching for EMS vehicles in hopes of obtaining drugs. My neighbor mentioned that he is aware of at least one EMS vehicle that had been broken into recently.

My husband was a in a Fire Department in the Richmond, VA area. There were several incidents EXACTLY like the one described above, involving Middle Eastern looking men. They took pictures, etc. of the firehouse, equipment, etc. until they were noticed. I think someone should seriously look at this! That's a notable distance away for the same EXACT thing to happen. My husband and I talked about it, and we came up with that they could use tanker trucks, park ANYWHERE they wanted to (FIRE LANES ARE CLOSE TO BUILDINGS!) and fill the tank up with WHATEVER they wanted!!! They would need photos of these trucks to make replicas. (You can by Fire Trucks on eBAY). This is a very scary scenario...and very similar to their previous MO of the plane full of jet fuel...this time it could be fire trucks with jet fuel....or worse.
