I would pass this piece as well as the Sept 17 piece along to my school bus driver. They are now a part of the war on terror. I explained that this information is not meant to alarm, but to pass on knowledge. I asked her to pass it on to her co-workers as well.

It's still hard to believe sometimes especially as I read this info. on 'threat to our schools,' that this is now the world which we live in. That our government would be advising us to prepare for possible terrorist attacks in such ways and that it's not just an article to read, shake our heads and ask ourselves, huh, now what shall I read.. No.. we need to act.. My four year old (baby) is going to the zoo tomorrow. He is taking a school bus.. I just feel like crying.. In fact, I am.... I will ask the teacher if this driver is one of the regular school bus drivers. I will walk up to the school bus tomrrow introduce myself to the driver and express my concerns. If I am not comfortable with his/her responce, my baby will not be going on his very first field trip.

Our leaders, from the city level all the way up to the prez, will have blood on their hands when this takes place.

I don't see where one of the millions of dollars spent on U.S. homeland security have been spent on informing, educating or including the public.

Thanks to websites like yours for providing this information. Unfortunately, many people I know are in denial of these threats and will remain uninformed.

God bless you.

Also it is critical to be aware at all times! If something looks or feels wrong or suspicious, go with your gut instinct. It's easier to stand down a law enforcement response than do nothing & pay for it later. Watch for people or things that don't belong or look out of place. It is your turf, guard it, know your neighbors & other parents, talk to them.

Other things to consider....

1. do NOT go to your child's school armed! The last thing law enforcement needs is to deal with armed parents taking matters into their own hands or getting tied up because a threat was called in and you drew valuable resources to a false call.

2. Make arrangements if you have friends near the school or in parental groups for a central safe house where children can wait for their parents under a trusted and armed adult.

3. Start watching the news and listening to the radio again as a practice. Be sure you are up before your kids in case attacks occur on the opposite coast where you have time to keep your children at home.

4. Start building and maintaining a plastic store box with medical supplies, water, can goods, plastic gloves and get basic first aid training through the Red Cross.

Thank you for this information. People SHOULD speak with school administrators, members of the School board and let them know about these articles/ websites. Knowledge is power and will help reduce stress/panic in the event ( God forbid) an attack like Beslan happens here.
People need to be informed and they are NOT getting this information anywhere else!! I have passed it on, it's not a pleasant thing to discuss, but we cannot pretend the threat does not exist
