Viennese police said Monday they had arrested a man who had allegedly dropped a rucksack containing nails and explosives near the United States embassy in the Austrian capital.
Preliminary police reports said the man had suddenly dropped the bag, which contained what looked like hand grenades, on the ground.
The man, of Bosnian origin, had apparently been trying to find the nearby US embassy. Nobody was injured in the incident, police said.
