A pipe bomb exploded at a parking garage in downtown Long Beach and shut down streets and businesses on a normally busy night but there are no injuries from the blast.
Police say the bomb went off at about 7:48 p.m. last night and forced much of the area including a nearby train station to shut down for about four hours.
Police spokeswoman Nancy Pratt says no one was injured and no vehicles were damaged.
Pratt says Bomb squads and K-9 units from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department were called to the parking structure to search for similar devices but found nothing.
