6.3 Earthquake Strikes Nevada

An earthquake measuring 6.3 has struck Northern Nevada.

The quake’s struck at 7:16 a.m. PST about 15 miles southeast of Wells, Nev., about 150 miles west of Salt Lake City It had an epicenter of only 3.7 miles.

Although no damage reports have been reported to the USGS, the earthquake may have caused damage due to its location and size.

UPDATE:   Reports of the quake being felt extend as far north as Preston, Idaho, and south through the Salt Lake Valley into Utah County.
