A gas station and fast-food restaurant were evacuated Friday morning for what police called a U-haul with suspicious containers inside.
Officers were originally sent to the gas station just after 10 a.m. to reports of a possible drug deal.
When they arrived, they contacted one man and two women with the U-haul and recovered some methamphetamines.
A further search of the truck uncovered six drums in the back with what they called unknown chemicals that were being transported in a suspicious manner, police said.
The Police Narcotics Unit and Bakersfield Fire Department’s HazMat crews were brought in to examine the drums.
Following some testing they determined the liquid was diesel fuel.
Officials are now trying to determine if the fuel was stolen and if criminal charges will be brought against the suspects.
