Austin Police and Fire, and Austin/Travis County Emergency Management are looking into a suspicious package discovered in the back of a pickup truck parked at Highland Mall in north Austin Thursday afternoon.
APD’s Joe Munoz says an IRS worker and an acquaintence were parked at the mall when the federal employee noticed the package in the back of her truck. That’s when they called police.
APD describes it as two plastic packages about one pound apiece, wrapped in aluminum foil, with a white powdery substance inside.
