A suspicious device found at an apartment complex in East-Central El Paso on Tuesday was a makeshift explosive device, El Paso Fire Department officials said.
At about 11 a.m., firefighters were called out to Linda Vista Apartments located at 1500 Magruder. The device was placed on the patio of an unoccupied apartment. It was later taken to the management office of the complex, said Lt. Mario Hernandez, an El Paso Fire Department spokesman.
No one was injured, and residents living in apartment buildings surrounding the office were evacuated as a precautionary measure, he said. Hernandez said he did not have details of the device, but did say it was a makeshift explosive device made from household kitchen chemicals.
