A former Colorado Bureau of Investigation agent was arrested Wednesday afternoon and taken to the Pueblo County Detention Center. He later posted his $35,000 bond. The arrest is the result of a lengthy investigation involving authorities from local, state, and federal levels.

The investigation also led to the evacuation of a Pueblo neighborhood after authorities executed a search warrant.

Pueblo Bomb Squad and Hazmat crews were called in and were at the home for hours. Police would only say a number of chemicals were found inside.

NEWSCHANNEL 13 has confirmed the home is owned by former CBI agent James Crippin. The CBI confirms Crippin was an agent from August 1, 1988 to February 1, 2002.

Pueblo County District Attorney Bill Thiebaut would not confirm the name of the person arrested, however, NEWSCHANNEL 13 has confirmed through a reliable source that James Crippin was taken into custody at the Pueblo County Detention Center. Crippin is facing a charge of illegal possession of an explosive. Thiebaut says he has requested the search warrant and the arrest affidavit be sealed to protect the investigation and witnesses involved in the case.
