An explosion at a Pacific, Gas and Electric vault shook the San Francisco financial district Tuesday afternoon, but caused no injuries, according to the fire department.

The blast took place underground at Drumm and California streets just after 4 p.m.

Several businesses called the fire department to ask whether they should shelter in place. But Mindy Talmadge with the fire department said that was not necessary.

The California cable car line, the 1-California and the 41-Union are affected by the activity in the area. Muni says expect delays.
