In order to enhance the security of air travel and to help manage illegal immigration, the Department of Homeland Security has solicited a proposal from a Canadian security company to develop a passenger stun bracelet.
Like the pain collars featured in the classic Star Trek episode The Gamesters of Triskelion, Lamperd Less Lethal’s electro-muscular disruption (EMD) bracelet is intended to incapacitate wearers on remote command.
A video at the Lampred Less Lethal Web site explains that the bracelet will obviate the need for a plane ticket and will help make passengers and baggage trackable while traveling. It also explains that the bracelet will provide in-flight security.
“By further equipping the bracelet with EMD technology, the bracelets will allow crew members, using radio frequency transmitters, to quickly and effective subdue hijackers,” the video explains. “The electro-muscular disruption signal overrides the attacker’s central nervous system and will render even the most elite and aggressive terrorist completely immobile for several minutes.”
As reported by The Washington Times, Lamperd’s Web site hosts a copy of a letter from Paul S. Ruwaldt, an official with the Department of Homeland Security’s Science and Technology Directorate, expressing interest in the bracelet.

Designed to make passengers trackable while traveling and then to “bring them down” by remote control?
How long will it be before we all will “need” to wear bracelets “just in case” we get out-of-hand or the system needs to know how we spend our time. And where we spend it and with who, because they’ll be wearing a bracelet too. And how long will it be before the remotes end up on E-Bay to use as self-defense or
strapped to our kids in school to “aid in proper motivation”. Or in each store in the mall strapped on by the front door greeter to monitor our trend on spending habits and our current aisle location. Or in church in case anyone falls asleep during the sermon. Or the criminal who just walks into the bank and points the remote at the tellers and zaps them.
This Orwellian stuff is scary by removing an individual’s right to remain an entity rather than as a member of “the hive”.

Anyone else think this is such a good idea? I guess I don’t HAVE to fly anywhere. Really, what is next? I’m not paranoid, I just don’t think that a prisoner’s shock collar has its place on non-convicts like me.

This has got to be the wackiest idea that I have ever heard. Do you actually think that the Muslims are stupid enough that won’t find a way to over come this system and turn it to their advantage.
This is about as intelegent as the idea, that, if we take all the guns away from the honest people, we won’t have any crime.
