The FBI joined the investigation and located the trailer in Scott County Kentucky. Scott County Sheriffs Deputies found the trailer at a truck stop near Georgetown, Kentucky but the contents of the trailer were missing. The dollar amount of the stolen pharmaceutical supplies is unknown at this time. The investigation continues
The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a suspect or suspects responsible for hijacking a tractor-trailer full of pharmaceutical supplies from the TA Truck Stop on U.S. 35 Wednesday afternoon.
Sheriff deputies were in the area within minutes of receiving the initial call and began searching for the stolen rig, but to no avail. Ross County Sheriff Ron Nichols said all local law enforcement agencies received a “be on the lookout” (BOLO) alert on the missing vehicle. “Dispatchers notify the road patrol officers, giving them the information and a description of a suspect as well,” Nichols said.
According to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, surrounding agencies were notified, as were the State Highway Patrol and Department of Homeland Security. The latter was notified because of the pharmaceuticals. Around 8:05 p.m. Wednesday, the State Highway Patrol was called about a reported disabled tractor-trailer along Ohio 72 near Interstate 71 in Clinton County.
The Patrol was able to confirm through the call that it was the same truck stolen earlier that day. The truck, however, was missing by the time authorities could arrive. Witnesses in the area indicated the vehicle was driven transported from the site by another tractor-trailer shortly after the theft was reported.
The vehicle is described as a box-van type about 53 feet long, white with the identification number 27095 on all four sides. The company name on the trailer is Prime Inc. The last person observed moving the vehicle could only be described as a heavyset white man with gray hair.
To report any information, call the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office at (740) 335-6170.
