Three people have been indicted and accused of bombing the federal courthouse and a FedEx building in San Diego, authorities announced Wednesday morning.
Rachelle Lynette Carlock, 31, was arrested May 15 and accused of using a fake driver’s license to buy four pounds of gunpowder. She, along with Ella Louise Sanders, 59; and Eric Reginald Robinson, 43; are named in the 17 count indictment, which includes charges of using a weapon of mass destruction.
U.S. Attorney Karen P. Hewitt said Sanders built the three pipe bombs; Carlock planted the bombs and set them to detonate; and Robinson drove Carlock to and from the locations.
“All the conduct alleged is very serious,” Hewitt said.
Sanders was taken into custody on an unrelated state charge May 5 and Robinson was arrested Tuesday, Hewitt said. Carlock has been in jail since her May arrest.
One pipe bomb exploded in front of the Edward J. Schwartz Federal Building on Front Street, near Broadway, at 1:40 a.m. May 4. No one was injured in the blast and no one claimed responsibility.
