Two men attacked the United States Consulate in the northern Mexican city of Monterrey early Sunday morning, but damage was minimal and no injuries were reported, the authorities said. One man fired at the office and another lofted a grenade that did not explode, officials said. The FBI will lead an investigation into the attack. Although there were no immediate suspects, speculation fell on narcotics traffickers.
while the resulting damage to the embassy may have been minimal, I believe the overt nature of the act shows a real propensity for violence toward the us by these traffickers and indeed makes the term “narco terrorist” more and more appropriate. In light of the suggestion of a possible connection between Islamic terrorists and narco traffickers, I think these overt terrorist acts must be closely watched and highly suspect especially in these volotile economic times which will be felt even more strongly by many central and s.American third world countries. What once may have been a remote possibility may become a more realistic probability.

I live here in Monterrey. I think the shooters were more related to the drug cartels than the Fundamentalist Islamic groups.
Anyway, I do not blame the US for elevating the alert level..

THE MOTIVE OF THIS ATTACK IS NOT STATED. THE INTENTIONS OF THE PEOPLE INVOLVED IS UNKNOWN. BEFORE WE DISMISS THIS TO A COUPLE OF DRUNKS, WE NEED TO INVESTIGATE MORE.
SOME PEOPLE, ANGERED BY THE ACTIONS OF US AGENTS ON THE BORDER, MIGHT VENT THEIR EMOTIONS BY TAKING IT OUT ON THE BUILDING OCCUPIED BY THE CONSULATE. THE MONTERREY CONSULATE IS PART OF THE STATE DEPARTMENT AND HAS NO AGENTS ON THE BORDER. SUCH ACTIONS WOULD JUST EMPHASIZE THE OVERT IGNORANCE OF THE PERPETRATORS.
NARCOTERRORISTS MIGHT HAVE CONDUCTED THE ATTACK, BUT WHY? THE ATTACK WAS DEFINITELY NOT PROFESSIONAL UNLESS THE INTENT WAS TO MAKE HEADLINES. ATTACKING THE CONSULATE PROPERTY SERVES NO PURPOSE OTHER THAN PUBLICITY.
WHAT WILL BE THE CONSEQUENCES OF THE ATTACK? I COULD SPECULATE BUT WILL LEAVE THAT TO THE IMAGINATION OF THE READERS.
