While I don’t believe there is even a remote chance of this happening, it nonetheless amazes me that there is a segment of the population that would actually be in favor of such dialogue.

Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi has advised President Barack Obama to give Osama bin Laden a chance to reform, telling the new president America’s most wanted man was looking for “dialogue.”
Mr Gaddafi hailed what he called “positive signals” so far from the new Obama administration, including plans to close the US prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
Speaking to students at Georgetown University via a satellite link-up from Libya, Mr Gaddafi said Washington must review its approach to bin Laden, who is blamed for the September 11, 2001 attacks and tops the US Most Wanted List.
“Terrorism is a dwarf not a giant. Osama bin Laden is a person who can be given a chance to reform,” Mr Gaddafi said through an interpreter.
He gave no indication that he had any contact with bin Laden or wanted to act as a go-between.
“Maybe we can have a dialogue with him and find out the reason that led him in this direction,” he added.
Moreover, he said the Taliban, which the United States helped oust in Afghanistan, was “not as it has been portrayed” and Washington should review its views on that group too.
In a speech outlining his views on how to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Mr Gaddafi called for the creation of one state rather than two nations living side by side.
“We can call it Isratine,” he said.
If Jews did not accept a one-state solution, he said they could move to Hawaii, Alaska or an island in the Pacific.
“They could live peacefully in an isolated setting,” he said.

I sort of agree…
I believe that the only appropriate dialogue to have with the Taliban, and Al Qaida is the kind that starts when a hellfire missile is fired off a drone and ends when it lands on their heads!
If memory serves me well Qaddafi experienced a similar experience on his tent, shame technology was not as accurate in those days.
Terrorist are not be be pandered or appeased, they are to be confronted, arrested or eliminated, anything other leads to a very slippery road indeed.
HAHAHAHA….. your funny..
Muammar Gaddafi is crazier than I had thought! Give Osama bin Laden a chance to “reform”? That certainly wouldn’t do justice to the 3,000 plus individuals he killed on 9/11! Also, his suggestions about having one state (Isratine) is just as ridiculous.
I think it is time we “drop” another surprise in Gaddafi’s backyard.
I have been waiting to see if this new election is going to turn out to be Obama vs Osama or Osama vs Obama…..are we going to “kick” or “kiss”?
I agree with u all-BAD BAD IDEA.in my opinion talkin to AlQ bin laden taliban would just soften them up and they would find it easier to attack us a 3rd time- cannot and will not happen. He making it sounding 2 be friends with the terroists- WRONG. i really do not know much about this guy, but from what little i do know, he is bad news also. I also think he knows the whereabouts of bin laden and is lying to the U.S. I think he could be the lead to bin laden. Maybe the U.S. need talk to this man for information.
What is Gadaffy doing speaking to students at Georgetown University? What is the attraction by our prestigous universities with these crackpot dictators?!
FD186,
You are asking the correct question, why are we the people allowing our Universities the opportunity to have these individuals speak to our children. Is it to personalize them?
Muammar Gaddafi’s past behaviors have shown him to be a mentally ill man. I really do not think our current administration is taking this man’s recommendations seriously. Osama bin Laden is not a leader of a nation nor does he represent one. Therefore, there is no need to talk to a leader of a terror group. I believe sick minds like Muammar Gaddafi’s make such recommendations because our past administration always made it seemed we were at war with Bin Laden, as if he was a leader of a nation or represents one. As far as I am concerned, the U.S is conducting military operations (not a war) to defeat terrorists who seek to destroy America and America’s interest around the world.
Just goes to show you how out of touch with reality he is. Suggesting that Israeli simply relocate. I would suggest to him that all Muslems convert to Christanity and that would solve the problem.
