Man Arrested On Terrorism Charges

A Maggie Valley man is behind bars facing terrorism charges. 48-year-old David Hicks is accused of going armed to the terror of the public and manufacturing and possessing weapons of mass destruction.

Police say they found all of the ingredients needed to commit a terrorist act, right inside Hicks’ home. Among them was a grenade and grenade detonators, 71 boxes of ammunition, and eight different firearms.

Detectives also found an email Hicks had recently written, saying that because of the outcome of the November election, he’d soon be leaving Maggie Valley to head for the Texas-Mexico border.

The email says he plans to help “protect our nation against illegal immigrants.” Hicks remains behind bars on $21-thousand bond.

Are you guys smoking crack? It is illegal to own several fire arms and ammunition for those weapons? Seems like the day’s in the 1700 where the Red Coats went door to door seizing weapons. Granted the grenade thing is a bit much, but what is wrong with protecting the border when YOU WILL NOT?!?

I am failing to understand why he is being held as a terrorist. Because he owns guns and ammo? Last I heard, it was not only legal, but a guaranteed right given by the constitution.

Because he stated he wants to go help in the border security? Aren’t there several legally operating groups in texas and arizona that are doing this?

Ok, I admit, owning the grenade was pretty stupid… a felony in fact… but a terrorist? Hardly.

Right – considering Muslims caught with remote controlled cars that can be blown up by a cell phone near an Army barrack, or with youtube videos on how to kill Americans in al-qaeda style attacks are NOT labeled as terrorists and the press goes out of their way to claim they are innocent until proven guilty – this headline is a bit of a stretch. Typical of how the media brainwashes most – you see there are only 2 comments. If it were a Muslim accused, they’d be protesting his innocence. Anyway, great site…keep it up.

If a grenade (which he should not have had), eight firearms and some ammunition is considered weapons of mass destruction, then George Bush was 100% correct in saying that Iraq had WMD’s. This is a preposterous story if there is nothing majorly different to what this guy actually had and openly planned to do. As written, it equates to no more than illegal search and seizure and a violation of this guys second ammendment rights.

How can Americans do this to other Americans. Grenade, not a good idea for several reasons. But to label him a terrorist is so wrong. I can safely say that I fear my United States Government more than any terrorist threat. I am sure glad that I am an American, and by the way, I served over in Iraq with 3rd ID on a tank, sure glad I risked my life for a government that does not care for it people, only it own power.

This patriot may be over eager in his desire to protect the border, but, he is not a danger to the citizens of this country! Only to those who would coss our borders illegally.
FRankly, if we did blow up these drug smugglers we would be better off!
