A New Mexico woman has been arrested on terrorism charges after police say she rammed her truck into a fuel tanker and tried to ignite it.
A woman was arrested on terrorism charges in Williams Thursday after police say she rammed her truck into a fuel tanker and tried to blow up the fuel storage tanks.
According to information from the Williams Police Department, officers responded to a Circle K gas station on the 200 block of West Route 66 on a call that a woman had rammed her truck into the tanker. The driver of the tanker had been unloading fuel at the time. Officers and the fuel truck driver wrestled the woman to the ground before she could ignite the fuel storage tanks through the open hatch with a cigarette and a lighter.
Before the incident, the woman had threatened customers and clerks to blow up the business and threatened to kill President Barack Obama.
Staff at the Circle K declined to comment on the incident. The driver of the tanker also declined to comment.
Sheri A. Zulpo, 30, Edgewood, N.M., was booked into the Coconino County jail on charges of terrorism, attempted first-degree murder and endangerment. Possible federal charges may also be filed.

Terrorism? Come on!! Crazy? Yes! Terrorist? No!! Thank you Patriot Act for making people terrorist who never were before and never should have been,
Sheri A. Zulpo should have been reported to the FBI immediately after making threats to blow up the business and the threat against the President. That’s a little too close for comfort in my book!
I hope they put her away for many years to come.
Terrorism probably not, but a threat to safety, Yes! A background check will put us all in the know. This is an example that we all need to be aware of the potential threats that are very real to disrupt our safety and way of life in America. Therefore, vigilance of terrorist threats is very much needed, complacency is very dangerous in this post 9/11 era.
Calling her a terrorist is right on the mark. She doesn’t have to be muslim to be considered a terrorist. Her intent to blow the business up by ramming her truck into the tanker and then trying to egnite it is terrorism. The term terrorism isn’t just for islamic terrorists. It is for anyone commiting a terrorist act. She obviously has some serious mental issues going on and it an extreme danger to society. I hope they put her away where she can never have the chance to carry out of her sick plans.
Shawn- What on Earth has the Patriot Act got to do with this?
Just because you’re crazy doesn’t mean you’re NOT a terrorist. So instead of immediately revving up that worn-out “Oh-Evil-Bush-did-this-to-us” train, how about waiting to find out the facts: who is she? What is her background? What was her motive?
Just because she’s not running around in a burqa and explosive vest doesn’t mean she can’t be a true, home-grown terrorist. Those who deliberately attempt to wipe out multiple victims in a single public attack are most certainly viable terrorism suspects.
Folks who want to stay alive in this 21st-century world better get past that pre-9/11 mentality and wake up to the current situation. Yes, Williams is a small, sleepy little community – but radical Islamics have warned us outright to expect attacks in rural areas, too, so Williams isn’t immune.
I appreciate my freedoms as much as you do, and you’re entitled to your opinion, of course, but it sounds like you’ve based your assumptions on blind political hatred rather than reality. Maybe Zulpo is just a full-blown nutcase, but in today’s world we can’t discount terrorism in an incident like.
Good points Dee and Holly !
