9th Grade Students Asked To Plot Terror Attack – Colorado

A ninth grade history project at a high school in Pueblo was supposed to teach students about terrorism, but instead it outraged parents.
Gini Fischer says her daughter came home Thursday saying she had two minutes to come up with a plot for an act of terrorism.
Over 110 freshmen at Pueblo County High School were given the project.
The teacher claims the assignment was to illustrate an act of terrorism by a foreign government on American soil.
Fischer says, “To ask them to use their creative energies to come up with a plot for an act of terrorism is very ludicrous.”
District 70 Superintendent Dr. Dan Lere said students may have misinterpreted the assignment.
He says if a student, “actually did illustrate an act of terrorism that they might commit, let’s say against the school, we’ve expelled students for that.”
The school district has decided to collect the assignment from students and destroy them.

I also think it that while this is of course a P.R. nightmare, it is intellectually dishonest and morally wrong to interfere with an honest discourse in a public institution.
Oh that is great. Command students to create an outline for a terrorist act, the winner gets expelled.
How about firing the teacher for soliciting a criminal act?
Sounds like parents are over reacting.. All Law Enforcement (Local and Federal) have to consider every possible area a place could be attacked in order to be more fully prepared.
I assume the assignment was to raise awareness of how vulnerable America is to attacks.
What a missed opportunity! The school board has 110 fresh minds inside the school system brainstorming possible scenarios for terrorist attacks and they decide to destroy the results. Talk about tossing useful intel down the tubes.
While one cannot prepare for every eventuality, this could have been a gold mine of ideas for further research into fresh possibilities. Forewarned is forearmed.
Oh…wait…forearmed in school. Sorry, I forgot.
I go to Pueblo County High School and the teacher who gave this assignment is insane. She scares me. I am in fear of my life. My friend [Edited] is the one who started all of this. I laughed at her.
Every military service does this same exercise. It exposes holes in defense lines. This could have been a very good exercise as Sennin and others have said. Heck anyone with half of a creative mind can see vulnerabilities in their local communities. It’s not really that hard to do.
I go to Pueblo County High School and even though this teacher isn’t liked much, she shouldn’t be fired. Th assigment was actually fun because we were able to be creative. She was just trying to show her students that today in America, terrorist attacks are very possible, and there is really no reason that she should be fired at all, she was trying to make her students aware of terrorist activity.
sorry to take up space.this goes out to STUDENT in Pueblo County High School who is obviously misguided and misinformed by his/her teachers.the largest terrorist entity on this planet is the CIA/U.S. government.DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH.DO YOUR OWN HOMEWORK-NOT THEIRS!!if a “terrorist” act occurs in the U.S.,it’s done by them.there are no muslim ‘extremist’ out to get us and you are being brainwashed into thinking so.STOP THE MADNESS.THINK FOR YOURSELF!!!!
