North Korea may launch a long-range ballistic missile toward the U.S. state of Hawaii in early July, Japan’s Yomiuri daily said on Thursday, citing Defense Ministry analysis and U.S. intelligence.

The paper said the Defense Ministry believes the launch is most likely to take place between July 4 and July 8. The ministry has declined to comment on the report.

The paper also said that the missile was likely to fly over Japan’s Aomori Prefecture toward Hawaii, but would not be able to reach the main islands.

The missile, thought to be a long-range Taepodong-2, would be launched from the country’s Dongchang-ni site on the northwestern coast, said Japan’s best-selling newspaper.

North Korea tested a nuclear weapon on May 25, accusing the U.S. and South Korea of aggressive intentions. Pyongyang said on Wednesday that it would meet any attack with “one thousand-fold retaliation.”

Following the underground test, the United Nations widened an arms embargo and authorized ship searches in an attempt to disrupt the communist state’s nuclear and missile programs.

If you live anywhere in those beautiful islands I would run now while you have the chance. Don’t wait until the last second spend July somewhere else….

Hawaii is 4500 miles away from N.Korea. The range of their missile is 4000. If anything would to happen it would be shot down either right over N. Korea just to end it all with that god awful state to begin with, or be shot down somewhere away from Japan, maybe 1500-2000 miles from N. Korea’s launch site. I’m only 22 but we cannot live in constant fear of whackos in this world.

If NK actually hits US soil… I don’t think it’s even possible!!….. But IF ,n I’m asking a big IF, how much damage will it do to the west coast? IF it were to hit Hawaii?

  6. Logan says:

I’m stationed in Okinawa. There is no way that a long range missile is going to make it to Hawaii. We have the capability to shoot it down here, and at Hawaii. Japan has the capability too.
    Please.. don’t worry.

I live in Hawaii but I’m not worried. If it were able to reach us it would be shot down b4 it became a threat, one positive thing about it is it gives us the chance to test our defenses haha. IF by chance it does reach us and an attempt to stop it is failed oh wellz what can you do.

I hope the US is looking out for its territories. There are some that are closer to North Korea, like Guam that in which there are more people than most people think. Civilians and troops alike.

  9. Jennica says:

Im a little scared about what will happen tomorrow. But i know that the US isnt dumb, i know theyre going to do something about it.
