Per the live briefing, Fort Hood shooter Malik Nadal Hasan, shot several times, is still alive and is hospitalized in stable condition.

At least one soldier opened fire on a military processing center at Fort Hood in Texas on Thursday, killing 12 and wounding 31 others, officials at the Army base said.

The gunman, who officials initially said was killed, is wounded but alive, Lt. Gen. Bob Cone said.

Cone said that man is believed to be the only shooter. Two other soldiers briefly taken into custody after the incident were later released, a spokesman said.

The gunman, who officials said was wounded by emergency personnel, was identified as Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, 39, a law enforcement source told CNN.

A graduate of Virginia Tech, Hasan was a psychiatrist who was licensed in Virginia and was practicing at Darnall Army Medical Center at Fort Hood, according to professional records. Previously, he worked at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.

Good. That will make it easier to get some answers, before finishing him off.

  2. Dorothy Hoff says:

I believe the motivation of this killing is to warn OBama against sending any more troops to Afghanistan….that more killings of deployed soldiers could ensue.

I think the time has come to really think long and hard about the ‘converted Muslims’ we have serving in our Armed Forces. My first question was, “Is this guy’s allegiance to America or Allah?”

It appears this person planned what he was going to do and then acted on it to make some kind of ’statement’. That ’statement’, in my opinion, has something to do with his Muslim religion.

It ruins the credability of anyone else who has converted to Islam if we find out he acted on his ‘religious beliefs’.

If Islam is a religion of ‘peace & harmony’, how could something like this ever happen???

That’s MY story and I’m sticking to it…

What exactly has the muslim faith ever brought to our United States of America except grief? We are a Christian nation. Will we ever wake up? You all (Army, FBI, Homeland Security) dropped the ball on this one.

  5. Natalie says:

So was this guy an ideologist, stressed out, crazy?

  6. Edward Clementi says:

First, my prayers go out to the family of the fallen.
Second, I am outraged to think that in this day and age, we are unable to see when a person is ready to snap. I am ex-military US Army, and if it wasn’t for my age, I would teach you guys a few things about getting your heads out of ya butts. They need to get answers, while he is still alive, and damn it learn from the mistakes we made over the years.

  7. Jimmie T. says:

This guy is a muslim terrorist and no one is saying it. Someone yelling allah akbar while killing his fellow soldiers is a muslim terrorist.
He was on the radar and no one did anything

  8. M.r.H. says:

They need to screen all the doc’s patients ASAP.
He may have infected who knows who.
Please ID the person of interest that came over to his place and prayed
    the day before the shootings.

It is always amazing the amount of kneejerk crap that gets thrown around when something like this happens. That this man who is accused of the shootings at Ft. Hood is a Muslim is as relevant as being KKK is to christianity. The man was nuts! Trying to find a rational reason for the insanity of this man is almost as insane as he is. If he was obviously mentally disturbed, someone should have acted to get him psychiatric treatment. I am a Christian who has had many friends, classmates and co-workers that are Muslim. There are almost as many different Muslims as there are Christian denominations. Think! Have you ever heard of Christian, American born, nuts say God told them to do something crazy? Crazy comes in all religious affiliations. People should think before throwing their prejudices all around.
