AZCentral reports that a Wickenburg Arizona McDonald’s reopened without incident after DPS officers pulled over a vehicle into the restaurant parking lot and discovered the driver with a hand grenade.

The incident started at 7:49 a.m. and the area was cleared and safe for the public about 2 hours later.

Harold Sanders, a spokesman for DPS, said a bomb squad removed the grenade from the area. After the grenade was discovered, within 10 minutes officers had evacuated the McDonald’s.

The restaurant is near U.S. 60 and officers had to close traffic in the right lane.

The driver was detained and is being questioned.
