A JetBlue passenger fled Kennedy Airport without his shoes after a stolen gun was found in his bag – only to surrender hours later.

Investigators don’t know why Junior Almonte, 30, had the weapon but they don’t think he planned to hijack the plane.

Almonte was charged with gun possession and possession of stolen property.

An officer for the Transportation Security Administration spotted the gun in Almonte’s bag as it was screened by a metal detector about 8:30 a.m.

When the officer approached Almonte, he fled – leaving behind his wallet and shoes, which he had removed as part of the screening process, the Port Authority said.

TSA officers and police searched in vain for Almonte, who was seen on surveillance video fleeing Terminal 5.

The shoeless suspect apparently left the airport and contacted his lawyer, who called Port Authority cops to arrange a surrender, sources said.
