UPDATED: The FBI is now leading the investigation of a Tucson hate crime. The home of two Jewish people on the northwest side was the target of vandals who placed a chemical device, a firebomb, tagged walls, and even left behind small dead animals, says the Pima County Sheriff’s department. Source

The Sheriff’s Department in Pima County Arizona say’s a chemical cloud that was released over the northwest of Tucson was the result of a hate crime.
Police found several dead animals near the front door of a home in addition to the garage and front door being sealed with a spray foam. One incendiary device was found at front door garage area, and another “chemical dispersal device” was locatecd near the back.
The gas cloud had spread over the area early Sunday and officials warned people to stay indoors.
The incident is being investigated by the Pima County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI.
8 Children Burned In Homemade Acid-Bomb Attack

Two children suffered serious burns and six others were injured after someone threw a bottle containing dangerous chemicals at them while they played outside over the weekend in Brooklyn.
The incident happened about 8 p.m. on Sunday at S. 8th Street in the Williamsburg section of the borough. One of the victims, 10-year-old Yaakov Frankel, along with several witnesses told police that someone ran out of a building across the street from the courtyard where children were playing and tossed the homemade device at them. An explosion that released some sort of Drano-type mix got into the eyes of Frankel and a 12-year-old girl, causing them to be hospitalized. Six other children suffered burns and were treated at the scene.
“They were playing and all of a sudden a bottle came in with liquid, and it spins around and exploded into their eyes and [onto] the clothes of the kids,” said.
Student In Jail After Bringing Bombs To School

An honor student and football star at San Ysidro High School was arrested Friday on three felony charges after allegedly bringing homemade bombs to school as a senior prank.
Elphbert Laforteza, 18, is in San Diego County jail for allegedly bringing a dozen acid-based devices to the school and placing them in trash cans. Six of the devices exploded, forcing school officials to order a lockdown and call police.
No one was injured, but the explosions were heard throughout the school. Laforteza is being held in lieu of $860,000 bail. Laforteza has been selected to attend the Air Force Academy.
