Bowe Bergdahl, Captive US Soldier Shown In Taliban Video
The Taliban has released a video purporting to show US soldier Bowe Robert Bergdahl who was captured in Afghanistan almost six months ago.
The video has not been verified, but shows a man wearing sunglasses and a US military-style helmet and uniform.
He appears healthy and speaks calmly and clearly, and does not appear to be under duress, the AP news agency said.
Pte Bergdahl, a US airborne infantryman, was captured by the Afghan Taliban in Paktika province on 30 June.
The insurgents also released a video of him a few weeks after he was captured.
The Pentagon has said Pte Bergdahl was serving with an Alaska-based infantry regiment in Paktika province, eastern Afghanistan.
He is believed to be the first soldier seized in either Iraq or Afghanistan for at least two years.

The Taliban has announced they will release a new video of a U.S. soldier captured in Afghanistan. SITE Intelligence Group, a U.S.-based terrorist tracking organization, said the media arm of the Afghan Taliban made the announcement Wednesday on their Web site.The video is said to be titled, “One of Their People Testified.” The Taliban did not name the American.
The only U.S. soldier known to be in captivity is Pfc. Bowe Bergdahl of Hailey, Idaho, who disappeared more than five months ago in Afghanistan.

Taliban Waits For US Reply Before Deciding Soldiers Fate

A militant commander who is holding a U.S. soldier abducted in Afghanistan said Sunday that Taliban leader Mullah Omar’s council is waiting for a response to its demands before deciding the American’s fate. It was the first news of Pfc. Bowe R. Bergdahl, 23, made public since a Taliban video was released July 18.
