Capitol Police Close Streets to Search Suspicious Car

U.S. Capitol Police a searching a suspicious car in the nations capitol, resulting in several closed streets.

The vehicle, a Honda covered with stickers was stopped at about noon an because of a suspicious looking package on top of the car, police closed several streets, searched the car and interviewed the driver.

Suspicious Package Found on Capitol Hill

FOX 5 has learned that Capitol Police are investigating a suspicious package that was found in the Longworth House Office Building on Wednesday afternoon, and people are being evacuated from the building until the device is removed.

Capitol Police say initial tests of the package were inconclusive, but just to be cautious they are evacuating the Longworth Building and sending those people to the Cannon Building until the package is safely removed.

Capitol Police Sergeant Kimberly Schneider says Virginia State police will help in taking the device to Quantico to be rendered safe.
