A shocking development in a recent suicide bombing has security and intelligence officials extremely concerned according to a BBC report. The report confirms earlier suspicions that the al Qaeda suicide bomber who died while attempting to kill a Saudi prince in Jeddah last month apparently hid the explosives inside his body and detonated them using a cell phone.

Security experts are reported to be deeply concerned over the implications this may have for airport safety and other venues considered targets of terrorists. Many wondered how the suicide bomber was able to get so close to the prince, avoiding considerable security measures.

The BBC reports that Western forensic investigators think they have the answer, and it’s worrying them profoundly. They believe that by hiding the bomb inside his body the suicide bomber was able to circumvent security measures the Saudi prince had in place.

Fortunately for the prince he was not killed in the blast. The force of the blast went downward, blowing the terrorist in half and leaving a reportedly large crater in the cement floor.
