Nationwide Terror Alert Sounded In India

Sify news and others report the home ministry on Monday issued a nationwide terror alert after intelligence inputs suggested that cities like Mumbai, Delhi and Agra, among others, might be targets of terror attacks in the coming days.

The red alert comes days after Mumbai Police said four men of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) group had entered the city to carry out a ‘violent’ attack.

The Centre has sounded a ‘general’ nation-wide terror alert ahead of the New Year, asking security agencies and state/Union Territories (UTs) police to step up vigilance especially in Mumbai, Goa, Bangalore and different cities in Gujarat, including Ahmedabad. Police have been asked to focus on Bombay Stock Exchange and different properties of the Taj group of hotels in Mumbai, software companies in Bangalore and various tourist hotspots in Goa.
